Pick up the A boys at 6:00am this morning and went to Fort Desoto to see if the Mackerel and Kings were running. They were not but what a beautiful day it was and what a grand time we had.

This is the second of tow fish we dragged up. A small Jack Cravelle.

Z fished while M watched and had the occasional outburst of song and dance.

We did all our fishing under the watchful eye of a Great Blue Heron.

Having had our fill of not catching fish we headed off to the cool waters of the North Beach! What sublime time on the squeaky sands and in the clear waters. Da boys made a sand castle in between wrestling matches in the shallow waters.

This one had two slim covered spines. I have never seen more than one before and I do not know wif this is just a genetic mistake .

It was a great time!

On the hunt for whatever lies beneath. Dipping the net into the water the best way to produce a good haul is achieved by scrapping along the bottom in areas where sea grass is the thickest.

The excitement builds as you return to the buckets to sift through the contents of the net. You just never know what you will discover.

On today’s foray we catch hundreds of transparent grass shrimp, a few feather blennies, and various species of crustaceans.

This little crab was tenacious and was pinching everything in sight. We noticed four fluorescent pink dots two on each claw leg at the joints. One of those mysterious but certainly functional touches God so often includes in His creations.

A truly great way to spend an afternoon with friends thank you Phillips phamily for the Phun.

Even after death a fish is a beautiful thing. At least not long after death. The fish belonging to the Jack family remind me of planes. Streamline and swift they look as thought they are made of aluminum. Fins are shaped like wings and when swimming at full speed zinging this way and that they appear to be in flight.

The traditional Thanksgiving morning fishing trip continues. The little brother catching the only good fish tradition continues as well.
